Normally, I wouldn’t bother with waiting in line for popcorn, not even if it was for 10 minutes. I, however, made the exception for waiting in line for Joe Brown’s Carmel Corn caramel popcorn.
I entered the line around 2:30 p.m. near the elevator by the ice rink (I later calculated the distance to be about 150 feet). I estimated the wait to be about 2 hours.
I finally stepped foot inside the store at 7:00 p.m. It would be another 15 minutes before I placed my order. Unfortunately, they ran out of caramel corn at the sixth customer ahead of me, so I had to settle for a consolation: cheese-flavored popcorn.

The clerk rang up my transaction at 7:23 p.m. My Joe Brown’s Carmel Corn popcorn purchase was my final purchase at Lloyd Center mall.
The nearly 5-hour wait for popcorn in this circumstance was worth it. The Joe Brown’s crew appear to be worn down, going from a day that’s like a walk in the park on any other day to running the Boston Marathon the next day.
On top of that, they did what they could with what they had. Saturday was an extremely unusual day, with high customer volume making high volume orders.
Thank you to the Joe Brown’s Carmel Corn staff. I hope you all got some rest on Sunday.
