Dawn and a Shipwreck

The morning was clear and frigid. The deep blue ocean and early morning sky was gradually turning to orange. The sound of the waves splashing to shore and into the rustic remains of the Peter Iredale hull. Seagulls squawking nearby.

I looked at this morning as a moment of peace and tranquility. Nature even allowed such calm today.

In the back of my mind, however, other events were taking place this morning on the opposite coast. It was the presidential inauguration for the 47th president.

He’s the first U.S. president to be a convicted felon. He was impeached on his first term to have incited and engaged in an insurrection, and the senate voting 57-43, but short of the 67 votes to remove him from office.

He was adjudicated for sexual assault. He owes hundreds of millions from a civil defamation suit.

He had two federal cases dismissed, one for the insurrection on January 6, 2021, and one for the classified documents case in Florida, where a federal judge is “interfering” with the case. He also has a pending case in Georgia for that phone call to the Georgia’s secretary of state to find 11,780 votes.

Somehow, the voters voted for him.

The mainstream media has been giving him the top story slot for the past nine years, while now former President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris have been going about their job and duties.

He is a man who has been held to no accountability. The Department of Justice was slow to act to a dire situation. The U.S. Supreme Court acted in his defense and somehow made a presidential immunity a thing out of whole cloth, while deflecting from the plain and straight-forward language of U.S. Constitution Amendment 14, Section 3 relating to his engagement with the January 6th insurrection.

Now, he’s President of the United States again. It’s extremely difficult for me to respect a man who has no regards for the law and our system, let alone having incited and engaged in an insurrection.

Our system has failed us. We’re back on another shipwreck.

And, I refuse to say his name here.
